What Your Factory Needs Before They Can Quote Accurately
Visual direction: Tech pack pages, spec sheet, calculator, material swatches.
If a factory gives a quote with very little information, treat it as a rough estimate, not a final production number. Accurate pricing requires product clarity.
Factories need the product details
They need construction, measurements, fabric specs, trims, labels, artwork, finishing, packaging, and target quantities.
Factories need the order assumptions
Quantity, color breakdown, size range, delivery timeline, and inspection requirements all affect cost.
Factories need to know what is flexible
Can the fabric be substituted? Can trims change? Is packaging custom or standard? Flexibility can open better price options.
The more complete the brief, the more reliable the quote.
